When gameplay seems linear without in-game purchases and you’re made to buy stuff? Faced continuously crashing game because of your low system configuration? Tired of playing addictive games that are hampering your everyday life and priorities?

If you agree with most of the stuff that I mentioned, then continue reading. I am about to share with you, an awesome website, that is on its journey to revolutionise the opposite of what today’s gaming industry is trying to to do.

Online gaming has evolved drastically in recent years. The history of online gaming dates back to the some of the first mainframe computers.

Don’t worry, we are not going to deep dive into history lesson of online gaming.

Back in 1999, my elder brother purchased a hand brick game for around INR 100. We were thrilled that we have 26 games to play and all of them were named after alphabets A to Z. Initial 5-6 games were racing, mind games and rest of them were different version of modern day Tetris. I believe that is how Tetris started.

Hand brick game

The Brick Game is a traditional LCD electronic game, that displays games in 10 x 20 grid screen, the same grid size used in Tetris. The games are usually arranged within alphabetical letters, with each letter corresponds with different games. Each game has its own variations by selecting the number below the letter. The difficulty level and speed of each game can be adjusted by pressing the left or right D-pad.

Then time changed and when I scored good marks in class 4, my dad gifted us video game console that used have keyboard with it. He wanted us to enhance our typing skill. But we had mario, tekken, snow bros, contra, Street fighters in our mind. For those of you who don’t have idea about any of stuff what I’m talking about, here’s a picture of that console.

I miss those days, guys. As we grew older, Internet become more accessible. And like every kid, I also googled free online games. Then I got to know the world of online gaming through Miniclip.com. I’ve even played miniclip games on systems assigned to us in the school. 8 ball 3D, Monkey Lander and football strike and what not.

Let’s go back to simple times again, with Plays.org

The Unique selling points of this website are –

1. No status symbols or paid upgrades

Mostly gamers tend to purchase in game items in order to make their Game character well equipped, powerful or invincible. They don’t think twice. That’s good only if you’re working dude playing games, but incase you’re kid who has access to their parents mobile phone which has their credit card information saved, paid upgrades becomes a problem. I’ve seen kids at age of 5-6 playing android games without even knowing how to navigate through game options due to lack of knowledge. I believe you can hand over this website to your kid easily without worrying about losing confidential data.

2. super simple games which are a chance for fun, but do not aim to alter your identity or establish addictive loops

When you play Grand theft auto, tomb raider, assassin’s creed or any other RPG, they tend to alter your personality. It’s not a bad thing because that’s how immersive games are designed. But with lot of stress, office, family, kids, it is hard to make time for heavy duty games. At that time, quick and fun online game comes to rescue. Plays.org has the collection of games and zeal to let users have fun time.

3. casual games you can dip in and out of, many of which you can beat quickly

With lack of time, it is hard get into a heavy duty games with all your heart and soul. Most of the games at plays.org can be easily beaten and you can get in and get out of these games without getting addictive. These games are addictive in a way fun and time pass way. They’re not going to take over you.

4. no need to download apps to play

In the age of Google play, apple app store, amazon app store, it is hard to find a business that doesn’t have or is not thinking about getting an app for their product. Even when you open most of the websites, you get an upfront option to download the app. Plays.org is not one of them. There collection of games are totally browser based. So, you can play games even when you’re on subway, in waiting area, airports etc.

5. no need to register or set up a user account

Even for the most basic services like file conversion or time convertor, you are made to sign up in order to get full service. At plays.org, you don’t need to register or sign up to play games. Just look for game, click play and you’re ready to rock and roll.

6. No Ads

There are no ads on the website. Need I say more! 😅

Plays.org Rating Algorithm

Plays.org uses rating based on which they can come up with more similar and fun games. Rating is used to analyse the user experience and their likes/dislikes.

Many small snackable games. Little bits of joy. No paid upgrades or playing with the default character settings that social signals you can’t afford the upgrades. Not competing against others, but playing for the sake of play and to have fun.  These are the soul of Plays.org.

Plays.org was created as a way to use what we know to create something fun and to make some aspects of the work day a bit less boring than it otherwise would be, while believing we are making the web just a tiny bit better – especially for those who can not afford video games and are often stuck playing mobile apps optimized to frustrating users into buying upgrades or accidentally clicking ads. After Flash died last year it felt like something should come next to help replace all the fun Flash games which were online & we are trying to be a part of that.

User Tracking and Privacy

This site does not carry any advertisements. Some games have social sharing buttons. If you click through to the social networks they do, of course, track everything you do on their site for personalization of their news feeds and ad targeting.

The only tracking service on our site where we look at it is Clicky, a web analytics tool. We use data from it to see which games are popular and track our site health overall. If we see a certain specific game or category of games is widely popular with our users then we will create more related games in that genre.

Now I would like to share my favorite games –

1. Star Wars X-Wing Fighters

It is a side-scrolling shooting game where you play an X-Wing fighter.
You shoot enemy ships. Avoid getting hits and collect power ups including health restoring heart containers.
You complete missions and score points in the simulation round to further upgrade your ship.

I played this game for 2 weeks and I can say that this is my favorite game on Plays.org. It reminds me of side scrolling games Contra. The best part is the power charge option for which you need to press and hold the bottom right cracker shaped button. As soon as power charge is fully loaded, you can shoot enemy ships easily. You can get powers ups by shooting the enemy birds and every now and then there is heart shaped collectible to regenerate health. Apart from the laser you get with power charge, the ship shoot normal ammo. In order to duck bullets of enemy ships, you drag ship in all directions. You see photograph of storm troopers and chewbaca when game loads. This game is fun.

This game is large so takes a bit of time to load on the first play through. When you beat a level if it does not advance you to the next level click on the pause button to bring up the menu and click on the left arrow in that menu or refresh your web browser to bring up the level select menu. If you die & the game is stuck you can also refresh your web browser to restart the game.

2. Guardians – Defender of Mathematica

You select from 24 different characters such as knights, rangers, warriors, wizards, witches, and elves. To win a math battle, you must answer at least 7 out of 10 questions correctly. Once you win a game, you gain one shield for that category. We need earn 4 shields per category and unlock as many weapons and accessories as you can. The games get harder the more math battles you play.

It’s addictive in a sense that it makes you wanna kill yourself when you give incorrect answer to very easy maths problem and enemy inflicts damage on your character. Beware that the problem are that easy unless you’re a maths professor or maths pro. You definitely have fun playing this game. Nowadays, it’s hard to find games for your kids. At least, this is the game that you can advise your kids to play. It will help them with mathematical concepts and make them quick learners.

It’s great time pass and stress buster. You can easily get into it and leave it whenever you wants. You won’t get competitive.
